Something Weird...!
Silver Tongue
EP [4 Tracks]

1. Here I Dance In A Dress Like Flames
2. Follow
3. My Law
4. Insight

Silver Tongue are a rock band pure and simple. Loud and proud they rock your socks off or that’s what they try to do. It does get there in the end and I liked what I heard although these days it’s really hard for those bands around to do anything massively different without making themselves outcast. Silver Tongue are an easy Rock band to listen to.

This four track E.P I feel probably doesn’t show them at their best and I would like to hear some more stuff from them. The standout track for me is ‘Insight’ which I thought was great. It is a cool and fast paced rock song. The track flows loud and insanely along and the vocals are raw with passion. This shows great promise from a good solid band. The other three tracks are so so and don’t really stand out for me. They do have a great dirty guitar sound that continues through all their tracks though and they do show a lot of promise as a band. The first track on the E.P is ‘Here I Dance In A Dress Like Flames’ which is probably one of the best (and madly insane) track names I have ever encountered in my long love affair with music. It has dirty guitar sounds, dirty vocals and is just down right dirty. That’s cool. Throughout the E.P you can definitely hear their musical influences including Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, ACDC to name but a few.

Silver Tongue are a good solid band with a nice E.P. The E.P has some nice qualities and I can see that this band could be very big commercially. They have that sound that could take them all the way but for me they didn’t stand out enough to make me feel amazed. They do rock but not with the passion I always look for in a band. They have some great musical influences which include some great bands but as yet I can’t call Silver Tongue great. They have promise and I look forward to the next E.P they deliver. Rock us Hard!!!!

Alternative Review(s)

Silver Tongue was formed in November of 2002 in Sutton-in-Ashfiled, Nottinghamshire. The group includes Craig Linacre (lead vocals and guitar), John Parkin (lead guitar), David Hayes (Bass), and Glenn Boddice (Drums and backing vocals). The group’s influences include Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, ACDC, The Who, The Beatles, Audioslave, The Datsuns and Hell.

Silver Tongue's music is remnant of the traditional hard rock of the 70’s and 80’s. Although this band has only been together for a few years, their music seems quite mature and interconnected. Everything about these songs is smooth, natural and doesn’t seem to be at all forced. The guitars and the percussions intermesh to create a great solid sound complete with good riffs and an active beat. The vocals and lyrics, though a bit lost in the music, fit so smoothly into the music that they are easily taken for granted. After hearing these songs a few times, however, the lyrics and the vocals start to stick out and seem to add more passion to the music. It’s nice to hear a rock band that can rock, write, and sing.
