This demo defies any attempts to shoe-horn it into any particular genre and instead insists on baffling me every time I listen to it. What can be said about it is its brashness and uncompromising stance to sound completely unlike anything else around. Like ska-punk but without the trumpets and with a very northern twinge. First track, ‘Bullets’, is cocky and totally self-assured as it stop starts its way to the end. Just when you think you’ve got what they’re about, General Khaki change tack leaving you stranded.

It’s a toss up between ‘Animal’ and ‘Swagger’ for most memorable song, although I think ‘Animal’ just about edges it for the lyrical craziness – can you think of another band that sings about being ‘an animal rooting thorough your garbage’? No? Thought not. ‘Swagger is pretty sinister and sounds pure nastiness the more I think of it, conjuring up images of dark alleyways and dingy, awful clubs. But, that’s not to say that this demo is bad, just rather it takes some getting used to.
