Night and Day as a venue is a cosy
one and more like a student union than a normal bar, although
I guess with it being in the centre of Manchester that’s
what it really is. It’s a nice place to play to a good solid
crowd and that’s what we have here tonight. A good solid
crowd, not full or bursting at the brim but good all the same.
Drinks are flowing and the night begins……..
So brings to the stage P.T.A, a loud and brash
band that fills the place with noise…. and not bad noise
at that. The band pulsates rawness into the air for those in the
crowd who want it and there are a lot here that do. This band
rocks and I feel that this could be the start of a great night.
Next on stage are Waiger who seem to have something
that could jet them into the big time. I would say that their
music is more commercialised than the rest of the bands on tonight
and they have some good looking lads for the girlies which is
always a good thing for a band to have.
The V.Cs are on next, three guys and a girl
in PVC, what more could you want? As a bonus a different sound
is what you get. Very synthy, they rock with sophistication and
a coolness that they throw out into the crowd. They have something
different than the rest of the bands tonight and that is what
makes them stand out.
Lastly and definitely not leastly Red Star Line
take to the stage bringing coolness and an edge to the night that
only they could bring. It’s such a shame though that the
crowd just wasn’t there for them to play to (it was Manchester
after all and these guys are a London based band) but you could
tell the fans who were there knew that they were in the presence
of possible greatness. With pounding songs in their repertoire
including crackers such as ‘Pure’ and ‘Katabatic’
which melt your ear drums with power and charisma that only they
know how to bring, you know yo u are on to a winner with these
guys. Tim Crosby’s vocals cry out with husky rawness that
just fits the sound of the band. Insane guitar comes from Richard
Beniston and on bass is Colin Lomas who didn’t bring his
PVC dress (Ooer!!!). Finally on drums is James Rixon who takes
us on a thumping journey. They fly through their new single ‘Centerville’
which is due out in late January which is a great catchy, rockin
track. How can they fail? They just rock and that’s the
bottom line. They are energetic and loud but also look like they
are made for the stage, cool, calm and collected. They know what
we all want and that’s to be pounded with ROCK. All their
tracks ooze energy and power and smack you between the ears with
clas s. The band end the night the only way they know how, LOUD.
Their corker of a cover of Nirvana’s School just makes the
night great. It’s a brilliant, loud, passionate, powerful
version and definitely worth checking them out live for. These
guys know exactly what they are doing and I just hope someone
catches on soon as these boys could go a long way. Keep rockin
RSL, you do it so well.
